Winter is one of the best seasons for drinking beer (right up there with spring, summer, and fall!)
So put those New Years resolutions behind you once and for all and let's get back to the business of eating, drinking, and making merry.
We have a few events coming up at the Corner to help you connect with drinking buddies old and new and beat back those winter blues.
DEPOT TOWN CHILI CHALLENGE
Saturday, January 27 3pm - 6pm
This is a progressive chili tasting with stops at all of your favorite Depot Town haunts! Here's how it works:
Tasters will purchase a bag for $5 at one of the cooking locations. The bags will contain: Ten tasting cups, Ten plastic spoons (provided by Cafe Luwak),a voting card listing all of the chili stops, a pencil, crackers, breath mints (provided by Gordon's five and Dime), and coupons to Depot Town shops.
Tasters will go from location to location at their leisure between 3 and 6 tasting chilis and ranking them on their score card which they will turn in at their last stop.
I don't know all of the other locations yet, but I of course recommend starting and ending the tasting at the Corner with a beer! We will be entering 2 chilis - a hot and spicy chili with beef and a curried vegetarian chili with spicy italian soysage. Participating restaurants are donating the chili and all proceeds will be donated to SOS, hopefully over $500.
MID-WINTER BLUES BUSTING BUFFET
Come join Monica and the gang for the second Corner Brewery pot luck on Wednesday January 31, from 7:00-9:00pm. Our theme will be "Hearty" winter favorites that warm you up. Mark your calender, plan your dish, and come join us for a cozy winter evening.
Don't know what to bring? Contact monica@cornerbrewery.com or call her at 480-2739 for ideas.
DON'T FORGET to take advantage of early-bird pricing for the Winter Beer Festival. Bus tickets purchased in January are only $25 (and increase to $30 Feb 1). Festival tickets purchased before midnight Feb 23 are $35 and go up to $40 on festival day. And trust me, this is the premier showcase for Michigan breweries and well worth the price of admission.
